Just a short walk takes you to the tow path of the lovely Kennet and Avon Canal, where you can walk for miles admiring the colourful narrow boats as they leisurely chug their way through the picturesque Vale of Pewsey. Locally, visit the Crofton Beam Engines, the world's oldest working beam engines, which regularly hold 'steam up' days, when visitors from far and wide come to admire the magnificent machinery. Take the short drive to Savernake Forest and spend time strolling along the forest trails or enjoy browsing the antiques in the Hungerford Arcade. The nearby historic town of Marlborough is just a short drive away and offers a vast array of interesting shops and restaurants. Should you tire of all this, then drive to regal Bath or ancient Salisbury, both of which are easily accessible. A superb, rural Wiltshire escape at any time of the year.
