The former fishing village of Skinningrove sits on the Cleveland Way, and visitors will find an assortment of engaging cottages and houses plus a variety of shops within its boundaries. It has a sandy beach ideal for children and families, and the area is excellent for fossil hunting amongst the rocks on the foreshore. Skinningrove was also part of the Ironstone mining industry and there is a museum in the area that charts its industrial history. Saltburn is six miles away and has kept much of its Victorian heritage, including the oldest water balanced cliff tramway in Britain, well worth a visit. Skinningrove is an ideal place base to discover the wonderful moorland scenery and the many coastal towns and villages in the area, making it a great holiday base.
