Beaches of Arcachon, shops, market, railway station (several trains to Bordeaux in 50 min), bicycle rental, landing stage for boats for Cap Ferret where to visit the basin just minutes away.
Many bike paths have been built all over the Arcachon basin and to the ocean beaches, people travel a lot on bicycles.
Otherwise there are buses to drive outside of Arcachon, for example to the Dune du Pilat, the ocean beaches and the surf spots. The car parks around these beaches are well laid out and shaded, a beautiful effort is made to protect the coastline.
